After someone called the police to report two people were dumpster diving at an apartment complex Tuesday night, one man was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding warrant, according to a police report.
Officers questioned the man in the 400 block of Audra Lane. Police said the man told officers he had a knife on him but that he could not get to it because of an injury, the report shows.
An officer reached into the pocket where the man told police there was a knife and found the knife and a pipe, the report shows. Police also discovered the man had a warrant out for his arrest from the Love County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma.
Officers searched him and found methamphetamine, the report shows. The man was arrested for the warrant and on the drug possession charge.
400 block of South Carroll Boulevard — A woman was arrested Tuesday morning at Big D Food Store and charged with criminal trespassing after officers responded to a person with a knife call, according to a police report.
Police said Wednesday that no threats were reported. The woman had been trespassed from the store previously, the report shows.
2700 block of West University Drive — A man was arrested Tuesday evening at a Walmart store and charged with criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.
The man was trespassed from the property three days before and was reported to have been “smoking something” in the parking lot on Tuesday, the report shows.
During a search of the man, officers said they found a pipe in one of his pockets. They took him to the Denton City Jail.
From 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday:

- The Denton Police Department handled 154 service and officer-initiated calls and made 11 arrests.
- Denton firefighters responded to 29 medical calls and two vehicle crashes.
