The Well Church in Argyle will host Night to Shine 2019, an all-inclusive prom experience for people with special needs 14 and older.
Held at Argyle High School and in partnership with a variety of community partners and sponsors, the event is part of a global network of proms that will be held concurrently on Feb. 8.
“The Well is excited to be a part of this worldwide movement that God is using as a catalyst to change how culture embraces people with special needs and to rally the church worldwide to stand up for those who are differently-abled,” the church announced in a press release.
It will be the church’s third year of involvement with the event, which is a product of the Tim Tebow Foundation. Tim Tebow is a former Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Florida and former NFL quarterback. He is currently playing baseball in the New York Mets organization.
The foundation’s mission statement is, “To bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”
Once registered, participants are able to ride in a limousine, have their shoes shined, have their pictures taken, dance to songs played by a live DJ and much more.
All costs are covered by the Tim Tebow Foundation, The Well and other community sponsors.
Event organizer Daphne Arrington said that approximately 35 people attended the event during its first year in Argyle, and just over 50 have signed up so far this year, with capacity for hundreds.
