Denton County high schoolers have brought home their share of awards and prizes from the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.

Justin Tice, a Guyer High School FFA member, wrangled a calf during the rodeo’s Calf Scramble, winning a $500 purchase certificate for a show heifer and the potential for up to $12,500 in scholarships.

FFA student Bret Pittman of Ponder won Reserve Champion Senior Heifer in the Junior Heifer Show, while FFA student Zachary Griffeth of Justin captured Reserve Intermediate Champion in the Junior Red Angus Heifer Show.

More than 11,500 junior exhibitors are part of the nation’s longest-running livestock show this year. In total, the show saw about 33,000 entries.
