Eliza Doolittle (Katie Sperry) recalls a whirlwind dance while singing “I Could Have Danced All Night” in Music Theatre of Denton’s production of “My Fair Lady.” The musical runs two weekends starting Friday at the Campus Theatre.

Music Theatre of Denton opens its staging of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s My Fair Lady, based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, this weekend.

The famous musical finds Professor Henry Higgins applying his study and techniques to a charming cockney flower seller, Eliza Doolittle. Professor Higgins, played by David Johnson, wants to transform Eliza, played by Katie Sperry, into a proper Englishwoman. The musical includes famous songs “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday May 10-11 and 2 p.m. Sunday May 12. Tickets cost $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $15 for students.
