The Denton County Office of History and Culture will host a lecture about Comanche history with the great-great-grandson of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Courthouse on the Square, 110 W. Hickory St.
Lance Tahmahkera, the descendant of Quanah Parker, will discuss his family heritage, Comache traditions and will share artifacts and photographs of the Comanche people. Tahmahkera was born and raised in Fort Worth. He’s now the imaging department manager at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Outpatient Center in Burleson. Tahmahkera has spent years sharing his family history with schools, groups and organizations.
The event, presented by the Denton County Office of History and Culture, is free and open to the public.
