The University of North Texas Wind Ensemble, led by Daniel Cook, won The American Prize in Band Performance for 2021 in the college/university division.

The ensemble submitted a prerecorded performance, securing first place, a monetary award and a spot on the organization’s website for its archived performance.

In addition to being recognized, winners of The American Prize receive a monetary award and their recorded performances are archived for visitors to see.

The American Prize is a series of non-profit national competitions designed to recognize and award the best of performing arts across the United States. The competition was founded in 2009 and is awarded annually. The performances are judged by professional conductor, composer, playwright and actor David Katz, as well as a panel of experienced judges.
