Texas Woman’s University Theater Program will open Cabaret in April.

The Tony Award-winning musical by Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb explores the sultry, transgressive Kit Kat Klub in Berlin in 1931, as the Nazis were rising to power.

The musical examines a country’s loss of innocence and the clash of freedom and regression through the eyes of American writer Cliff Bradshaw and his relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. Performances are 8 p.m. April 4-6 and April 11-13. A matinee will be at 2 p.m. April 7.

All performances are at the Redbud Theatre Complex, on the north side of Hubbard Hall, 1600 N. Bell Ave. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Admission to the April 11 performance will be pay-what-you-can.
