Band director retires after decades teaching

Tommy Fain, assistant director of bands at Lake Dallas Middle School, will retire at the close of the school year.

Fain conducted his final concert Thursday and was given a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

Fain worked for 34 years as an educator, including 12 at Lake Dallas Middle School.

Krum ISD

Awards given out at board meeting

Two Krum educators were honored with awards from the Association of Texas Professional Educators during last Wednesday’s board meeting.

Tammy Morris, principal at Krum’s early education center, was given the ATPE Region 11 Administrator of the Year award.

Tanya Grey, a teacher at Krum Middle School, was named ATPE Region 11 Special Services Educator of the Year.

Both honors were presented by ATPE President Betty Plunkett, a retired Krum educator.

Aubrey ISD

Principal named for Monaco Elementary

During a special board meeting held last Wednesday, Barbara Pitt was named principal of Monaco Elementary School.

Pitt currently serves as assistant principal of Renner Middle School in Plano.

Immaculate Conception Catholic School

School second at meet

Among 123 schools that competed in the Private Schools Interscholastic Association Class A academic state meet May 4 at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Immaculate Conception Catholic School finished second overall in the middle school division.

Association officials Pat Walters and Maugerite Cook presented the second-place trophy during a school assembly Monday in Denton.

Argyle ISD

Argyle valedictorian, salutatorian named

Timothy Davis was announced as valedictorian for Argyle High School. Davis plans to attend Texas A&M University and work in semiconductor manufacturing.

Chloe Livingston has been named salutatorian. She plans to attend Rice University and has not decided on a career path.
