Volunteers needed for Read Across America
District elementary schools will celebrate Read Across America on March 1.
The National Educators Association program has been held annually since 1998 to honor the birthday of Theodor Geisel — better known as Dr. Seuss. Geisel’s birthday, March 2, falls on a Saturday this year, so schools, libraries and organizations that love reading across the country will celebrate a day before.
Denton ISD needs volunteers from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of the event. Those interested in joining the fun can sign up at https://volunteersignup.org/9M7HD.

Tractor restoration team wins in San Angelo
Krum High School’s inaugural tractor restoration team won Grand Champion Showmanship in the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo’s Agricultural Mechanics Contest.
The ag mechanics competition took place Sunday through Tuesday, and the team won more than $2,000 in prizes, including tool sets and storage crates.
The all-female team was headed by coach Ishley Elmore, who in 2007 participated in the first all-female tractor restoration team in ag mechanics.
