Hilltop, Argyle High add two administrators
Two familiar faces will take up ranks at the campus leadership level this year in Argyle ISD.
Kristen Haynes will move to Hilltop Elementary School this fall to serve as the campus’ second assistant principal. She started in Argyle 12 years ago as a third-grade teacher, then moved onto English as a second language classes. She has served as the district’s ESL coordinator for the past two years.
John King was named the new principal of Argyle High School during a school board meeting Monday night. He will take over for James Hill, who resigned earlier this summer to take a job as human resources director for Frisco ISD. King has been with the district since 2007, serving as a teacher, coach and assistant principal.
Classes will resume at Argyle ISD on Monday, Aug. 20.
Lake Dallas ISD
Middle school student wins state pageant
Teagan Davis, an incoming eighth-grader at Lake Dallas Middle School, was recently crowned this year’s National American Miss Texas Pre-Teen Cover Girl at the state pageant in July in Dallas.
Davis, the daughter of Nathan and Janay Davis, also took home the spirit award at the pageant and will go on to compete at the national contest in California in November. At school, Davis is active in choir, one-act play, National Junior Honor Society, athletics and student council.
The National American Miss pageants award $1.5 million in cash, scholarships and prizes each year.
Contestants at the state level are judged on formal wear, personal introductions, interviews and an individual community service project.
