Garage sale will raise money for preschool

Donations are currently being accepted for Denton Christian Preschool’s community garage sale fundraiser on Saturday, April 13.

Clothes, appliances, electronics, furniture and toys will be accepted through Friday, April 12. Donations can be dropped off at 1114 W. University Drive in the First Presbyterian Church’s Erwin Gym between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays.

The garage sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13.

Proceeds will be used to keep tuition costs low for low-income families.

Immaculate Conception Catholic School

One-act play headed to state competition

One-act play cast and crew members from Immaculate Conception Catholic School are advancing to a state competition for their performance of Cyrano de Bergerac, the story of a lovestruck soldier too embarrassed of his large nose to admit his feelings.

Students received several distinctions for their performance in the area Private School Interscholastic Association competition. They will compete at the state level on April 13 at the North Central Texas College Performing Arts Center in Gainesville.

Christian Wood was named Best Actor for his portrayal of the title character, and Grace Reinhardt received Best Actress honors for playing Roxane opposite him. Also honored were Liam Mason, who was named to the All-Star Cast, and Garrett Niewinski and Joseph Zepeda-Mesta, who received honorable mention for All-Star Cast.

Other cast members include Madeline Nakos, Philana Koto, Rachel Renner, Majaie Moore, Loren Gossett, Ethan Boos, Jordan Kamga, Grace Jester, Yudith Hernandez and Isabella Luster. Crew members are Clara Decaen, Olivia Panella and Valeria Cantu, while teachers Tina Jezek and Alina Szabo led the production.
