UNT literacy

Speech-language pathology graduate student clinicians Delaney Quattlebaum, center, and Brooke Henry, in background, work with students to help them develop pre-literacy skills to prepare them for kindergarten.

Enrollment is now open for the fall at the language-literacy preschool inside the University of North Texas Speech and Hearing Center.

Managed and staffed by the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, the preschool is available two or three days a week, depending on a child's needs, to help prepare them for kindergarten.

The preschool teaches students strategies to prepare them for literacy and focuses on elements such as speech production, phonics and sight word recognition.

Classes start in early September, with large and small group instruction plus individual therapy sessions as needed. Tuition is $100 a week, and scholarships are available. For more information, call 940-565-2262.
