The University of North Texas is joining Coursera, a platform for massive open online courses that has users worldwide.
Known as MOOCs, the courses are designed for anyone to participate and learn more about a subject. Other universities like Stanford University and Johns Hopkins University offer courses on the website.
Learners can enroll and watch videos and explore content for free, and then they can choose to can pay to complete some coursework and earn a certification.
UNT will add three to five courses within the year, although specific classes haven't been announced.
