North Central Texas College will start offering the Optional Practical Training program for international students.
OPT is an extended visa program that allows students who have finished their degrees to work in that field in the United States for one year, and it includes internships and other on-the-job training.
The program was approved during last week's Board of Regents meeting.
Currently, NCTC has 47 full-time international students, but their visas only allow them to hold jobs on campus.
"Issuing OPT statuses gives international students a pathway into the workforce in the communities that we service," Jennifer Beal, director of admissions operations, said in a news release.
