The Argyle ISD school board unanimously decided to build the district's second elementary school in the Harvest development, located at 1301 Homestead Way in Argyle.
The decision came during a Monday night's board meeting.
The construction of a new elementary school was approved by voters in May as part of a $166 million bond package. Argyle ISD is expected to double in size over the next five years, pushing its enrollment to more than 5,000 students.
Two housing developments, Harvest and Canyon Falls, donated land to the district for a school. According to a district press release, school board members chose the Harvest site "to ensure the least amount of student movement."
The new school will open in fall 2019 and house up to 850 students. The district's existing elementary school, Hilltop, currently holds 750 students in pre-kindergarten through third grade.
