Denton County Public Health confirmed one resident had died of COVID-19 and reported another 244 had tested positive for the virus by Tuesday.

The one death caused by the virus was of a woman in her 70s from unincorporated northeast Denton County. The death brings the cumulative total to 732.

Lewisville’s annexation of the Castle Hills community on Monday wildly changed the county’s virus case data. The annexation added over 1,000 cumulative COVID-19 cases to the city, which were previously reported in the county’s unincorporated area. The number of deaths in those areas may also be affected by the change.

Confirmed virus cases in Denton County as of Nov. 16, 2021

Data included in the chart below is from DCPH, which estimated 7,077 county residents were still actively infected with the coronavirus Tuesday. *NOTE: Lewisville annexed Castle Hills on Monday, leading to a drastic increase in its COVID-19 cases and a drastic decrease in cases for the county’s unincorporated areas.
