Giving a boost

Medical staff prepare to administer COVID-19 vaccination shots at the Little Elm ISD Athletic Complex on Wednesday. Denton County Public Health administered thousands of COVID-19 vaccine doses — many of them boosters — during the drive-thru clinic. The county scaled down its vaccination operations for months following its time at Texas Motor Speedway, but has temporarily returned to a drive-thru model after the recent approval of the Pfizer booster shot. Additional drive-thru clinics will be held next week at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex.

Denton County Public Health confirmed 1,635 cases of COVID-19 for the week of July 2-8, according to the department's weekly report.

DCPH didn't confirm any additional deaths this week. With an estimated 1,468 recoveries, the active case load rose by 160 and now sits at 3,957.
