Denton County Public Health reported Tuesday that 1,154 additional county residents had tested positive for the coronavirus, the second-highest total the county has announced.

On Monday, DCPH reported a record-high 2,070 cases, nearly doubling the previous daily record of 1,064. That new record included test results from Saturday, Sunday and Monday, because the department does not report on weekends. Tuesday’s total of 1,154, however, stands alone as a reporting day.

The cumulative total for the entire county now sits at 122,464 positive cases since the start of the pandemic. DCPH announced just 98 COVID-19 recoveries Tuesday, bringing that cumulative total to 109,964, and the department estimates 11,734 residents are still actively infected.
