Houston-based Shipley Do-Nuts is making its way to Denton as part of a sold-out Dallas-Fort Worth expansion by the doughnut company, which will begin opening area stores next year.
Shipley has signed a franchise agreement with investment platform HPL Capital LLC, which will bring 25 new locations to DFW cities including Coppell, Lewisville, Prosper and Roanoke. The company does not yet have a set store front for the Denton location.
HPL CEO Michael Poates will be involved in the site selection and construction of the Shipley stores, also heading up operations and the franchise management team. Poates has held leadership roles with Dairy Queen, Papa John’s, Mr. Gatti’s Pizza and Whataburger.
Shipley has more than 330 locations. The chain offers hot glazed doughnuts, kolaches and coffee.
The Dallas-Fort Worth locations are part of over 300 more expected to open throughout Texas and the Southeast over the next five years through franchise commitments. The brand is recruiting additional franchises nationwide, with a focus on Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma.
