DATCU prez

Glen McKenzie & Melanie Vest.

North Texas-based DATCU credit union has reshuffled its executive leadership after splitting the titles of president and CEO.

Executive vice president and chief financial officer Melanie Vest is stepping into a new role as president, while Glen McKenzie will remain the credit union's CEO. The board of directors split the roles recently as part of DATCU's normal succession plan. The specifics of each role will continue to be worked out between McKenzie and Vest, spokesperson Susan Passariello said in an email.

Vest joined DATCU in 2002 as a part-time teller while attending the University of North Texas and has held multiple leadership roles within the credit union since. She holds a Bachelor of Science from UNT and is a graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School. McKenzie, who joined DATCU in 2001, has been president and CEO since late 2016.

"The fact that she has grown from a UNT student working as a part-time teller to now becoming the President is really remarkable — this speaks to her tenacity and dedication," McKenzie said of Vest.

DATCU has 12 North Texas locations and members in 11 counties.
