Callaway Golf, a sporting goods company, is planning to open a 783,465-square-foot national distribution center at Alliance Center North 3 in AllianceTexas, a master-planned community developed by Hillwood, according to a news release.

The distribution center, which will be located in southern Denton County next to a Walmart distribution center, will create “more than 100 jobs,” said Reid Goetz, vice president of Hillwood, in an email.

Goetz said discussions with Callaway began in late 2018 and the center, which is four times the size of the company’s existing building, is expected to officially open in the first quarter of 2020.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue a 10+ year old relationship with Callaway within Alliance and to be able to accommodate their growth in Alliance Center North 3 …,” Goetz wrote in the email. “Callaway is a global leader in the golf equipment and apparel business and a terrific corporate partner within AllianceTexas.”

Alliance Center North 3 was originally built last summer as part of Hillwood’s “ongoing strategy to have speculative industrial options available, in all sizes and at all times, for both existing and new customers within AllianceTexas,” according to the release.

“Our new, larger distribution center gives us the ability to bring our family of brands under one roof to better serve our customers,” Brad Barnett, the senior director of operations at Callaway Golf Co., said in the release. “And we’re thrilled to have worked with our longtime and valued partners from the CBRE and Hillwood teams on the new site.”

The new distribution center allows Callaway Golf to consolidate “omni-channel fulfillment operations in North America for its portfolio of brands — Callaway, Odyssey, OGIO, TravisMathew and Jack Wolfskin,” according to the release.

“Callaway’s growth in Alliance is significant because it continues to validate Alliance as a location that can accommodate the operations for top tier customers for decades at a time,” Goetz said. “The availability of workforce, multi-modal logistics infrastructure and Hillwood’s flexibility of Class A real estate at scale within AllianceTexas provides alignment with users to make successful long term decisions that match up with their operational needs.”

AllianceTexas, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, houses more than 500 companies that have created more than 61,000 jobs.
