More than 50 cadets are in Denton this week for flight training at the US Aviation Academy and Denton Enterprise Airport (KDTO), according to an announcement from USAA.
The Air Force has partnered with the Civil Air Patrol to train active-duty Department of the Air Force officers and enlisted Airmen and Space Professionals interested in becoming rated officers. The Denton chapter of the Civil Air Patrol is renting classroom and ramp space at the USAA facility, and more than 15 Civil Air Patrol airplanes from across the country are in Denton for the training.
More than 100 local hotel rooms are being rented for the week by those involved.
“We are generating approximately 5,500 gallons of Avgas sales over the cadets’ two-week training,” said Scott Sykes, vice president of business development. “We are also showcasing KDTO by bringing in Air Force officers, cadets and Civil Air Patrol volunteers from all over the country and building a reputation for Denton in the aviation community.”
